PI – Ramón Emilio De Jesús-Grullón

Ramón Emilio De Jesús-Grullón (PI) have worked on the energy industry for the last 6 years, starting his professional career in Distribution Network Design and Construction and then transitioning into Renewable Energies and Electric Markets, where he conducted research on Electricity Balancing Markets and Demand Response for wind and solar power generation across Europe. His active research includes  the study of the impact of Distributed Generation, and the design of Microgrid Architecture in the Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) networks. Currently, Emilio divides his time and energy between his academic work as a professor and Microgrid Research at the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (PUCMM) and STOR Water & Energy, a startup that seeks to use the latest advances in Industry 4.0 (IoT, Machine Learning) to create Digital Twins in the infrastructure of the Water and Energy industry, and Energía Journal, a portal to the most relevant information about the world of Energy and Sustainability in the Dominican Republic.


CI – Abraham Espinal Serrata

Abraham Espinal Serrata (CI) worked as a research assistant on Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) Nanoscience Research Laboratory during his bachelor’s degree studies. After that he founded a Renewable Energy company (ENESTAR) and have done collaborations since then with a couple of universities in the Dominican Republic regarding Distributed Generation Integration in the Energy Grid, especially Solar PV generation. He is also a Professor for the Electromechanical School of Engineering and for the Basic Science department at PUCMM.

CI – Rafael Batista

Rafael Batista has been working as a researcher in the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra for the last 5 years in the PIELASI research program. He has worked in several projects sponsored by the local government and foreign governments agencies. His research interest has been focused on the implementation of optimal control strategies, high frequency PEC, and application of machine learning techniques to disease prediction and image processing problems.

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARH ASSISTANT

Juan Jose Pichardo

Juan José Pichardo Estévez is a senior student at the “Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM)” in Santiago, Dominican Republic. He is currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Electrical Power Systems (Expected to finish in 2022). Before entering PUCMM, Pichardo graduated from high school in 2018 at the “Instituto Leonardo Da Vinci” obtaining a technical degree in informatics. Apart from his academic studies, Juan José is also a musician, and has been part of PUCMM’s music group “Tuna Universitaria” as a percussionist and drummer.
